Our practice team is passionate about eye care and we are all very proud of our profession. With plenty of optical experience at our disposal, we endeavour to supply you with an eye care experience like no other.

And to make that experience even better, we want you to get to know us.

By choosing us as your optician, we need to find out as much about your history and lifestyle as we possibly can. With this in mind, it’s only fair that you get to know us too.

Jean Medlam – Managing Director/Dispensing
Optician

Jean qualified as a Dispensing Optician in 1986, having been in the optical industry for more than 20 years. She started working for Mr Raymond Parker who established the practice in 1965, when she was a young married mum of two children.

Jean loved the job so much that she trained to be an optician, juggling her studies with running a home. Jean always dreamt of owning her own practice and she jumped at the opportunity when Mr Parker retired. She bought Parker Opticians with her daughter Zoe Warner, who is also a qualified Optician. Jean feels very lucky to have achieved her dreams of helping people.

Zoe Warner – Managing Director/Contact Lens Optician

Jean’s daughter, Zoe, qualified as a Dispensing Optician in 1985. Zoe soon picked up a firm interest in contact lenses and decided to take further exams, qualifying as a Contact Lens Optician in 1998.

Zoe is delighted to be able to supply a great range of contact lenses and gives patients the confidence that comes with contact lens wear, whether it’s for sports or cosmetic reasons.

Zoe also enjoys being involved in frame buying, making sure we have the most up to date fashions available.
In her spare time she has been known to abseil down buildings in aid of “Guide Dogs for the Blind” which is a charity she is passionate about.

Andy Jarvis – Optometrist

Andy is a highly experienced Optometrist and joined Parker Opticians in 2016, having worked in optics for more than 30 years. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family and his love of paintings.

Joe Wright– Optometrist

Joe joined us in 2016 and has been a welcome member of the team. Joe is a very experienced optometrist. Joe has two daughters and his wife is also an Optometrist so optics is in the family!

Angela – Receptionist

Angela is our longest serving member of staff, joining the business as a receptionist in 2005 after bringing up three children. Angela has recently taken on our frame buying due to her flair with fashion. She can be found with a big smile at reception and is always ready to greet our patients and advise them to the latest styles.

Lindsay – Receptionist

Lindsay is the newest member of Parker Opticians family, joining us in February 2016. Lindsay brings to the team great customer service and impressive organisation skills. In her spare time she is a member of the W.I and also enjoys cycling with her family and walking her dog.

Debbie – Receptionist

Debbie comes from a background of customer service having worked front of house at the post office most of her career so she knows how important it is for good customer satisfaction. She loves running and can be seen looking after her “Grand dog” when her family are away on holiday! She can often be seen giving our customers dogs treats from the back cupboard!

Now that you know all about the friendly faces at our practice, why not pop in and say ‘hello’.

The majority of our team has worked together for more than a decade, and as you can imagine, we all know what it takes to create a strong family-like bond. It helps us to give you an eye care experience like no other, as well as giving us the extra energy and enthusiasm required to protect your eye health efficiently.

Our cosy practice is quite interesting too. We are located in the shadow of Bolsover Castle heritage site which was founded in the 12th century. Built in 1895, the practice consists of two dwellings knocked in to one. Our tests rooms used to be a lounge, so you are certain to feel relaxed while we test your vision.

The name Parker Opticians comes from Mr Raymond Parker, a family friend. He founded the business in the early sixties, which means that more than half a century’s eye care experience has been thrust in to the service that you receive today.

If you want to find out more about our practice history, don’t hesitate to pop in and ask us some questions.
